STUDY: Participants needed for research on internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy for depression

McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School are conducting a research study at McLean Hospital to examine the effectiveness of internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy for improving depressive symptoms, coping skills, and brain function in people with depression. The web-based server set up to deliver the treatment is secure and confidential and maintained by McLean Hospital staff.

What’s Involved:

•   Participants will be paid up to $500 for their time
•   3 visits to McLean Hospital (approximately 4 hours each)
•   Cognitive/emotional testing and questionnaires
•   10 weeks of participation in an interactive online treatment
•   Two 1.5-hour MRI brain scans

Who Can Participate:
•   Individuals between the ages of 18 to 45
•   No history of head injury or neurological illness
•   Must be right-handed
•   Must have normal reading ability
•   Must be fluent in English
•   No pacemakers, aneurysm clips, or other metallic objects in the head and upper body
•   Must not be taking medications for depression or currently undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy
